Overview
Accessing a poor cctv installation
Victoria connected with Adrian (MD & Founder of Active CCTV) on LinkedIn as they had mutual connections on the platform. Victoria contacted Adrian asking if Active CCTV could help with a CCTV issue they were having with their existing CCTV supplier. We arranged a site visit to access what we were able to resolve. On the site visit we witnessed what was possibly the worst installation we had seen in 22years in the industry!
Internal grade Cat 5 cables had been used externally and IP connections had not been weatherproofed going into the cameras. The cabling was cable tied to scaffolding poles and a catenary wire was not installed to where they should have been one to alleviate the potential of the cable stretching. These issues had caused an issue with the CCTV system constantly blowing the electrical fuse which meant that the cameras were no longer recording or transmitting to the monitoring station. Not only that they were being charged an exorbitant amount of money on a monthly charge for services that were not being provided.
The Solution
Quality installation, quality product, at a cheaper cost!
It was our recommendation that the existing CCTV kit should be completely removed by the existing supplier. From there we installed new cabling (external grade cat 5), new CCTV cameras, new catenary wires and a new recording system, it was also made sure all joints were enclosed in an IP 65-rated weatherproof container.
The work was carried out to our normal extremely high standard leaving the customer extremely pleased with the image quality and standard of installation. We also arranged for a new monitoring company to provide out-of-hours surveillance at a fraction of the cost they were paying from their old supplier. In summary, quality installation, quality product, at a cheaper cost!
